smx-london-logo [1]Here we go, I’m writing this post from 8.000 mt of altitude, flying back to Rome from London, after speaking at the SMX London 2008 Conference [2], the most advanced search marketing event in the industry, organized in London by search guru Chris Sherman [3].

I have been caught in a storm that devastated Rome [4] the night before the conference, and my flight has been canceled. On a waiting list on the next two flights to London (at 6am and 7.50am) I finally made it for the second flight, that took me to London Heathrow at 10.30am local time – my speech was at 10.40!!!

As reported by Lucy Langdon of Distilled [5], the UK search engine marketing firm, in her latest blog post about Day 2 at SMX London [6], I really made an epic and heroic entry at mid-session with my luggage and all in this huge, victorian Grand Hall of the New Connaught Rooms center in Covent Garden, surprising my good Icelandic friend Kristjan Mar Hauksson [7] of Nordic eMarketing, who brilliantly moderated the SMX session.

I catch my breath and 10 minutes later I was on with my Secret Weapon presentation, that Lucy Langdon of UK search marketing company Distilled reports as being one of the three highlights of the day [9]! Thanks Lucy!

Lucy also mentions my icebreaking joke with the hair product [6] I found in Miami named “Secret Weapon” – a little note about product localization: I checked UK supermarkets and beauty products shops and found out that the same product in the UK is called “Secret Agent”! Lucy linked the secret weapon to a picture of a very hairy guy [10] which, of course, it’s not me! =)

She also covered in her post the presentations from my fellow panel speakers Gary Beal, Will Critchlow and Steve Johnston who introduced other secret weapons, respectively MarketDefender [11], SEOMoz’s Linkscape [12], and Majestic SEO [13]. Check them all out!

After breaking the ice, I introduced my secret weapon, TubeMogul [14], the video distribution tool with killer video tracking capabilities launched a few years ago by a few brilliant guys in Berkeley, California, now grown to a solid technology and online marketing company.

TubeMogul [14] really is a great tool, and it’s free! There’s also an advanced paid version, but the free version already rocks! Check out all the Tubemogul features in my SMX London presentation embedded here below!

The embedded presentation actually lacks the final touch of interactivity given by the video message to SMX London from TubeMogul’s Mark Rotblat, who I interviewed at the TubeMogul’s offices last month.

Mark’s video interview in the new TubeMogul offices in Emeryville, Caliornia, has been part of the presentation, also in the sense that I distributed the video through TubeMogul to show the audience the capillarity effect in its distribution.

The video with Mark’s SEO tips on TubeMogul not only has been distributed across 17 video sharing sites on the web (YouTube [15], Google Video [16], AOL Video [17], Yahoo! Video [18], MetaCafe [19], DailyMotion [20], Imeem [21], MySpace [22], Veoh [23], Sclipo [24], HowCast [25], 5min [26], Blip.tv [27], Revver [28], Crackle [29], Break [30] and Graspr [31]), but is getting syndicated and reported on other blogs, such in the case of 1timstreet.com [32], the blog about viral video by video expert Tim Street, and of course also from the guys at TubeMogul, who embedded it on their TubeMogul blog [33] too!

The video, titled TubeMogul’s Mark Rotblat Viral Video SEO Tips for SMX London, is actually all over the web, and it is currently squatting 10.400 results pages on Google, as you can see clicking on this Google search results link and on the screenshot below. All with just one video and one simple upload operation! Not bad! Also, these numbers are expected to grow over time, so stay tuned on further blog posts with updates!

This is due to the RSS / MRSS syndication effect, for which many bloggers set an automatic publishing on their page of anything tagged “viral video”, “video distribution”, “video tracking” or any other of the tags I used to optimize the video. So you can currently watch the viral video anywhere from Truveo [35] to the Marketing and Advertising Video Search [36] portal, from RSS portal Meefeedia [37] to California-based new media company Brauer360’s blog [38], Link Building site Linksharepir.com [39] under the SEO Linking strategies section, or at authority video aggregator portal Blinkx [40]. The video has also been syndicated by a variety of other sites, including Eastern European [41], Japanese [42], and Indian [43] video portals!

You can also listen to Mark Rotblat’s video SEO tips on TubeMogul here at Global Search Interactive, of course, from this very sleek and advertising-free video player embedded from Veoh.com, one of my favorite.
